In a constantly changing market, there are fewer listings, and more agents are going after them. As a result, new agents may wonder whether joining a real estate team or flying solo will result in more success.

Flying solo may work for those who thrive on being independent, while joining a real estate team will help you generate more business, take administrative duties off your plate, and boost your morale.

Here's a breakdown of what to expect with both.

Flying Solo

Agents who work without a team can bring more money home in commission, which is a primary reason many people may be hesitant to join a team. However, regardless of the extra money earned, they will likely find themselves paying for services that a real estate team would usually cover, such as administrative support, marketing services, and additional business fees.

Agents who don't join a team right away are solely responsible for their clients, meaning no team member can cover a showing or meeting should you have an emergency that forces you to unplug from your business.

Solo agents also need to be careful to stay completely self-motivated, as it's easy to fall into a rut without team members to provide support and encouragement.

Joining A Team

As a team member, one of the benefits you'll experience is having a team leader that acts as a rainmaker to bring you leads and business. As a bonus, a team may serve you by providing valuable training and education with real buyers and sellers.

Joining a real estate team will also give you more time to focus on what matters. Nobody has ever accomplished something great on their own. Since you will be investing a lot of time and energy into generating business, a team is an excellent resource for someone to manage all the other organizational tasks that agents need to worry about.

Having other agents around to support rather than compete with you is great for morale, and teammates you trust make transactions flow much smoother.

A team also introduces a new degree of accountability. While you may have plenty of personal accountability, being responsible for getting things done for a group of people will bring a new level of accountability to your life.
